The term gora mean white male. pronounce gaurah. nothing more nothing less. Feminine version is gauri. so this is not a disparaging term. it is purely neutral and descriptive. The word for black is kala and the feminine is Kali, after the great and fierce Goddess herself.

I liked your article Simon. It is honest and talks about the racial issue well. The word racist is itself racist so I never use it. Honesty with civility allows us to say what we want without censure. I hope you can write some more articles like this about your impressions of India.
