I sympathise with Keerti's remarks re Osho books in French and he has been very badly treated by Osho International himself and that is simply the case.

Actually three publishers have put out Osho books translated into French. One of these is run by Gatha and Sant, called "Editions du Gange"), who are friends of Keerti. They have traditionally done this for many years and were authorised by Osho to do so personally many years ago. For whatever reasons Osho International have attempted by legal action to close them down. However OI have a habit of threatening legal action from high placed lawyers and then not doing anything. I had this experience myself when I helped to publish the book "Life of Osho" which was heavily threatened by the most prestiguous copyright lawyers in England at the time. We decided that we would take them on in any legal battle, and would have done so. In the end they did not pursue the matter. As far as I can see Keerti himself has done this in India and now publishes freely and independently there. I cant see why Gatha and Sant in France dont simply carry on and see what happens, especially as they had authorisation from Osho which would be a powerful legal argument.
There has also been another French independent publishing house called 'Almasta', also run by other sannyasins. And thirdly there is OI themselves who publish through "Editions Jouvence".
Osho International have published books in French recently. They are the compilations. So French book shops have titles on Courage, Medicine and Meditation, etc and both arriving in the past two months. They are not in this sense Osho books and Osho himself whilst alive did not like compilations. He even asked for statements like "This lecture is complete in itself" to be appended to videos of his talks. However it is not completely true to say that there are no Osho source books available in French bookshops at the moment.
According to Khirad, the French commune leader, Osho International did ask the 'Almasta' publishers (which they would pay for!) not Sant and Gatha, to shred 5000 past published French Osho books but Almasta have not accepted to do this as yet. If Keerti has different information on this last point he should take it up with Khirad?
I feel like Keerti it is important, that full and proper "Osho" books, not compilations, be published in all languages. French is still a very widely read international language, particularly in Africa, which is so in need of Osho's love and insight. For example "Way of the White Clouds" should be published in all languages, Russian, Chinese and French particularly. If Osho International are not prepared to do this, others should do so and take them on if legally challenged. The main thing is for sannyasins to cooperate and those who are interested in this type of work to allow it to happen. It is much more important that Osho's work reaches everywhere than anyone's ego, including the ego's of OI, stand in its way.
Love, Parmartha
