Samudra: Work and Meditation. A Summer Camp in Italy.
A few months back we received a letter from our landlord saying that he was not going to renew the lease for the premises of the current center (Osho Meditation Center in Sommacampagna, Verona, Italy). We thought of it as the worst thing that could happen: seven years pouring all our work, money and creativity into this place, this garden, and in one year the game is over... out in the cold again.
A few months back we received a letter from our landlord saying that he was not going to renew the lease for the premises of the current center (Osho Meditation Center in Sommacampagna, Verona, Italy). We thought of it as the worst thing that could happen: seven years pouring all our work, money and creativity into this place, this garden, and in one year the game is over... out in the cold again.
But the shock didn't last long. It was clear that we had to decide whether we wanted to go on with this experiment of communal living, with its mix of inner search, business and devotion to Osho, or just go back to a "normal" life - everybody minding his own business. It was easy to see that we valued the experiment of living together as the best choice we had.
So we started to look for a new place, and this time we were also ready to find the money to purchase it.
Now we found it, a piece of land in the middle of the countryside, with a few 18th century buildings that need renovation. It's not far from where we are now - close to Verona - just more to the south.
In May/June we expect our renovation project to be officially approved, and we'll start working on the site. For the heavy construction, we'll hire an outside company with all the cranes and machinery and so on this is very clear. This will grant efficiency and respect of the schedule.

But we are also very interested in beautifying the place and giving it an international flavour. For this reason we are inviting people from every part of the world to come and help create this new Oshofield. We offer lodging, great food, regular meditation and the opportunity to spend time working and living with new friends. We are in Italy, it's summer and the beaches of Lake Garda are very close. What we expect in return are a commitment of 3-5 weeks with some hours of work during the day. It's the kind of exchange that many of us who are a bit older know very well and enjoyed a lot. Nothing new, but plenty of fun.
