Ma Dhyan Tara: Osho in Singapore

Who is Ma Dhyan Tara? Besides answering this question regularly in third phase of Dynamic meditation, she runs Osho Information Center in Singapore and conducts meditation workshops. She also runs Active Meditation for the After Care Program at the Singapore Anti-Narcotic Association (SANA). But this theme will come later in detail. Now we would like to introduce just a bit of Singapore juicy Osho atmosphere.

Active Meditation Workshop at MDIS (Management Development Institute Of Singapore), January 2006

Tara's comments: The workshop started with a group discussion of what the participants think meditation really is.
After a briefing on how modern living in Singapore causes stress, we started with Dynamic Meditation. It was the first time experiencing Dynamic for most participants.
The second meditation introduced was Kundalini which was clearly a hot favourite for many of the participants! The workshop ended at about 5pm with the everyone feeling calm, grounded and deeply relaxed. Everyone was in such joyous mood that nobody wanted to leave studio! They even followed me into the washroom and kept asking me when would the next session!

Weekly Osho meditations in Singapore

Due to high property prices in this urban city, the Osho community in Singapore has yet to establish a center, but sannaysins and Osho-lovers meet every Sunday at Inner Yoga, a new gorgeous yoga studio at Stamford House for our weekly meditation sessions. We come together to love, laugh, dance and celebrate the juice of life in joy and totality.

The studio is located on the top floor of Stamford House, a beautifully-restored Victorian building, one of the oldest historic landmarks in Singapore. It is conveniently located just 2 minutes from City Hall MRT station's underpass. If you are living in Singapore or a travelling Osho-lover or sannyasin, you are welcome to join us in our meditation events (weekly or intensives). Inner Yoga's address is 39, Stamford Road, #03-09, Stamford House, Singapore 178885. Do contact me directly before coming for any event.

Osho Active Meditation at The 7th Singapore Holistic Festival, October 2005

We were the opening meditation for the second day of the festival. Usually the crowd do not come in in the morning and I was worried that they would be no one at the preview but there were about 10 - 12 people awaiting at the workshop venue even before we arrived! And guess what? None of them had heard of Osho or Active Meditation so I didn't want to shock them too much... but considering it was their first time and didnt know what they were in for, they were really great participators! It was fun and we made a lot of noise... After the preview, many of them came to our Osho booth to enquire more about our sessions.
Once we did a preview at another fair (May 2005) and the sound/noise from Dynamic Meditation boomed across the entire hall and everyone knew who I was and what we was doing after that event. Every time I walked passed any stall, the vendors would shout HOO! at me and I always smiled back and "challenged" them to join us but mostly they were too shy! Only then I realised the commotion we generated, created much publicity!! : )

Osho meditation marathon 2005

The Osho Meditation Intensive 2005 was one of our favourite events of last year. The intensive took place at La Vida Loft, a cool funky lifestyle studio sandwiched between rows of quaint conservation houses along Telok Ayer Street.

Along the fringes of Chinatown is Telok Ayer Street, a more conserved area of bustling Tanjong Pagar. Still, Telok Ayer Street proves itself to be a fascinating territory with rows of cabarets, bars, pubs, intimate eateries, art galleries, gay saunas and scores of yoga studios, wellness spas and beauty parlours.

We love La Vida Loft for her cave-like atmosphere, concrete floors with Hyacinth straw mats and 100% sound-proofed walls that permitted us to go full force at the second stage of Dynamic Meditation. The yoga mats provided were of 6mm thick that protected our precious knees during jumps. The studio is fully equipped with a kitchen (parties and food galore!), two shower and wash rooms, an office and of course, the private large studio the participants love so much!
La Vida is just the opposite of the famous Thian Hock Kian Temple (Temple Of Heavenly Happiness). However despite the temple's prominent landmark, La Vida Loft can be difficult to locate. One can easily get lost in the vicinity of Tanjong Pagar if you are not familiar with the surrounding. But getting lost and finding your way to the studio is half the adventure! Besides... who says treasures are easy to find? : )
